Three people killed when car collides with tractor trailer, SC Highway Patrol says

Three people were killed Tuesday night when a car and a tractor trailer crashed on a Midlands road, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The two-vehicle collision happened at about 6:15 p.m. in Orangeburg County, said Master Trooper Brandon Bolt.

A 2002 Ford Mustang was driving north on U.S. 301/Five Chop Road, and hit a 2014 Freightliner tractor trailer in the intersection with Cross Creek Drive, according to Bolt. The truck was driving west on Cross Creek Drive in the Orangeburg area, Bolt said.

The driver and two passengers in the Mustang died, according to Bolt.

The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office has not publicly identified the three victims.

Bolt said the tractor trailer driver was not hurt, and no other injuries were reported.

There was no word if anyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt.
