SC coroner identifies Sumter man killed after driving off the road and hitting a wall

The Sumter County Coroner’s Office identified a man killed in a Friday morning car crash.

A car drove off the road at the intersection of Church Street and Haynsworth Street and hit a wall in a residential area, Sumter County officials said. The accident was reported just before 7:15 a.m.

Coroner Robbie Baker identified the man as 59-year-old John Stanley of Sumter. He had been pronounced dead on the scene.

Stanley’s next of kin was notified.

The Sumter Police Department and the Sumter County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the crash.
