A man is dead after running off the road and crashing his motorcycle into a guardrail, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

Robert Terrell Whitner Sr., 44, of Greenville was found dead Monday at about 8:25 p.m. after crashing his 2009 Yamaha street bike into a guardrail on U.S. Highway 123 near Five Forks Road in Pickens County, according to the highway patrol.

Whitner’s bike was the only vehicle involved in the collision and no one else was injured.

The Pickens County Coroner’s Office said Whitner was wearing a helmet at the time of accident, and died from multiple blunt force injuries.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and Pickens County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the accident, the coroner’s office said Tuesday.
