A lane was closed at a popular intersection in the Five Points area Thursday for roadwork, according to Columbia Water.

An eastbound lane at the intersection of Gervais Street and Harden Street was blocked, Columbia water officials said in a news release.

Crews were working to make repairs to a water main, according to the release.

The lane will remain closed until the repairs to the line are completed, officials said.

During the closure, a temporary detour has been set up, according to the release.

Information about how long it will take to complete the repairs and fully reopen the road was not available.

Drivers might want to avoid the area if possible, otherwise they are asked to patient as traffic delays are possible.

“Columbia Water apologizes for any inconvenience that this may cause to our customers,” officials said in the release. “We ask for your patience as we work to improve the infrastructure in your area.”
