SC man killed in crash on popular Lexington County road is identified by coroner
One person was killed late Monday night in a crash on a popular Lexington County road, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Brian Austin Robinson, a 34-year-old Lexington resident, died in what Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher called an accident.
The collision happened at about 11:20 p.m. on Platt Springs Road, said Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover of the Highway Patrol.
Robinson was the pedestrian who was walking across the road at the intersection with Sandy Springs Lane, when he was hit by a 2007 Honda Accord that was driving east on Platt Springs Road, according to Glover. That’s near the Red Bank area of Lexington County.
Robinson died at the scene, Glover said.
Glover said the driver, who was the only person in the Honda, was not hurt. No other injuries were reported.
The driver remained on scene, according to Fisher.
There was no word if the driver was wearing a seat belt.
Fisher said the crash continues to be investigated by her office and the Highway Patrol.
