One person died in a crash on a Horry County road Friday afternoon, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The collision happened at 1:32 p.m. Friday and involved two vehicles, including a 2003 Honda moped and a 2011 Cadillac SUV, Master Trooper Brandon Bolt said Saturday.

The moped’s operator was heading west on Sea Mountain Highway; the driver of the Cadillac was traveling south on Morgan Avenue. As the Cadillac turned right from Morgan Avenue onto Sea Mountain Highway, it struck the moped.

The driver of the Honda was injured and taken to a hospital, where they died, Bolt said.

The driver of the Cadillac was the only occupant and was not injured, Bolt said.

The Horry County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the dead person’s name.

The collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
