One person is dead after a motorcycle crashed into a sedan in Spartanburg County Friday afternoon, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The rider of a 2023 Harley Davidson motorcycle died after colliding with a 2011 Chevy sedan on S.C. 80 on Friday around 4:05 p.m., a news release said.

Both vehicles were traveling on S.C. 80 — the motorcyclist was heading east while the Chevy was headed west — when the Chevy attempted to make a left turn onto S.C. 101. Midway through the turn, the Chevy was struck by the motorcyclist.

The driver of the Chevy, the only person in the car, was transported to an area hospital for injuries sustained in the accident.

Information on the deceased has not yet been released by the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
