Driver in Spartanburg County collision dies 2 weeks after crash, cops say

A car crash in Spartanburg County that occurred earlier in May claimed the life of one person on Friday, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred a little before 8 p.m. on May 9, on Coopertown Road near the intersection of Cowpens Clifton Road, a news release said.

The driver, operating a 2014 Ford sedan, was heading south, carrying one passenger, before veering off the right side of the road and striking a tree.

The driver and passenger were taken to an area hospital, where the driver died two weeks later, according to a news release.

The driver’s identity has not yet been released by the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office. The highway patrol press release did not provide information on the passenger.
