One person is dead after a utility terrain vehicle crashed in Union County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

At around 1:06 a.m. Saturday, a 2023 Kawasaki utility terrain vehicle, or UTV, was traveling east on Neal Shoals Road, and overturned when it attempted to turn left onto Happy Valley Road in Union County, a highway patrol news release said.

Two people were in the vehicle and injured in the crash, and both were taken to an area hospital.

One person later died, the news release said.

The identity of the person killed has not yet been released by the Union County Coroner’s Office.

The collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
