South Carolina woman killed when Tesla crashes, coroner says
A South Carolina woman was killed Tuesday in a car crash, according to the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.
Sarah N. Alexander, a 34-year-old Moncks Corner resident, was the victim who died, Coroner Darnell Hartwell said Wednesday in a new release.
At about 2:10 p.m. Tuesday, the coroner’s office was called to Ranger Drive in Cross where a Tesla crashed, according to the release. That’s in the area between Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie.
Alexander was the sole occupant of a 2021 Tesla, the coroner’s office said. She died at the scene from the injuries she suffered in the wreck, according to the release.
No other injuries were reported.
Further information about the collision was not available.
There was no word if Alexander was wearing a seat belt, but the crash continues to be investigated by the coroner’s office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Members of Central Berkeley Fire & Rescue, Moncks Corner Rural Fire & Rescue, Berkeley County EMS, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and the Berkeley County Emergency Management Division also responded to the wreck.
Through Sunday, 393 people had died on South Carolina roads in 2025, according to the state Department of Public Safety. Last year, at least 948 people died in crashes in South Carolina, DPS reported.
At least 19 people have died in Berkeley County crashes in 2025, according to DPS data. There were 32 deaths in the county in 2024, DPS reported.
