A car crash in Oconee County claimed the life of one person on Friday, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Doyle Street near Charda Drive, where a motorist driving a 2017 Toyota pickup truck was traveling north, the highway patrol said.

The driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle, veered off the right side of the road, over corrected and then went off the road to the left before striking a tree.

The motorist, identified as Stanley “Bucky” Osheal, 61, died at the scene at 1:55 p.m., according to the Oconee County Coroner’s Office.

No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, according to a news release.
