1 dead, multiple injured in Dillon County crash, SC Highway Patrol says

One person is dead and several others injured after a Friday night crash in Dillion County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred Friday around 10:50 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 301 and Elkins Road, three and a half miles north of the City of Dillion, according to Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover of the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Two vehicles were involved, including a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis and a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

The Mercury was occupied by two people while the Dodge was carrying four, a news release said.

Both occupants in the Mercury were injured and transported to an area hospital, where the passenger later died, according to the release.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released by the Dillion County Coroner’s Office.

Three of the four people in the Dodge were injured and taken to an area hospital, the release said.

The condition of those injured remain unknown as the crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
