Lexington County crash leaves motorcyclist dead, SC Highway Patrol says

A person died Saturday following a crash in Lexington County that involved an unusual object, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at around 1 a.m. on South Lake Drive near Daralynn Drive, according to the highway patrol. The driver, operating a 2005 Suzsuki motorcycle, was traveling east on South Lake Drive before running off the right side of the road, striking a culvert — a structure that channels water under a roadway.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, and has not yet been identified by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.

No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
