Cars collide head-on along SC highway, leaving 1 person dead, troopers say

A South Carolina motorist died following a head-on collision in Marion County on Sept. 6, 2025, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

A head-on collision has claimed the life of one person, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

At around 12:01 a.m. Saturday, a 2023 Kia sedan was traveling east on U.S. 378, about 20 miles south of the city of Mullins, while a 2013 Nissan sedan was traveling west. The Nissan struck the Kia head-on at the intersection of U.S. 378 and Pages Court, according to a news release.

The driver of the Kia was transported to an area hospital for injuries sustained during the crash, while the driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead on scene.

Both drivers were the sole occupant of their vehicles.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released by the Marion County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
