SC crash between tractor trailer, pickup leaves 1 dead, Highway Patrol says
One person was killed and another injured after a crash involving a tractor trailer and a pickup truck, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The collision happened at about 4:16 a.m. in Colleton County on Low Country Hwy at Catkin Lane, eight and a half miles south of Walterboro, said Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover.
A 2024 Dodge Ram pickup truck was driving north on the highway before colliding, at the intersection of Catkin Lane, with a 2000 Freightliner tractor trailer that was traveling south.
The driver of the pickup died on the scene of the accident while the operator of the semi truck was transported to an area hospital.
Bolt said the drivers were the only people in the respective vehicles, and no other injuries were reported.
The deceased has not yet been identified by the Colleton County Coroner’s Office.
