SC driver killed after hitting fence in overnight crash, Highway Patrol says

A car crash in Colleton County claimed the life of one person on Wednesday, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 9:10 p.m. on Jefferies Highway near the intersection of McLeod Road, where a motorist driving a 2008 Chevy sedan was traveling north, the highway patrol said.

The driver, who was the only person in the car, veered off the left side of the road and struck a fence.

The motorist was transported to Colleton Medical Center and later died, a news release said.

The deceased has not yet been identified by the Colleton County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the release said.
