A pedestrian has died in Richland County after being struck by multiple cars, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said in a news release.

Three Toyota SUVs were driving north on U.S. Highway 1, or Two Notch Road, near Raymond Street around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Master Trooper Brandon Bolt said.

A pedestrian was in the roadway and was hit by all three SUVs, and died. The Richland County Coroner’s Office has not publicly identified the deceased pedestrian.

None of the SUV drivers were injured, nor were they transported to a hospital.

The incident remains under investigation by the highway patrol.

This is a developing story.
