Traffic on a major Lexington County thoroughfare will be redirected as state workers work on a bridge in the area.

The S.C. Department of Transportation is temporarily closing some lanes of U.S. 378 during bridge construction over Twelve Mile Creek. The road work will affect two lanes of traffic in each direction near the Goodwill on Sunset Boulevard, about a mile and a half west of Interstate 20.

The shift will be in effect overnight beginning Monday, Dec. 8, DOT said in a news release, with plans to reopen for morning traffic on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

Other lanes will remain open, but temporary wall barriers will be placed on the roadway, and only right lane traffic will be able to turn into the Goodwill parking lot or the office park across the street.
