One person was killed in a crash Saturday morning in Dillon County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

At about 6:30 a.m., the driver of a 2020 Freightliner Box Truck was traveling north on Bethel Road near Free States Road before veering off the road to the left and hitting a tree. The driver then corrected, sending the vehicle off the right side of the road, where it struck a ditch and hit another tree, according to Sgt. Tyler Tidwell of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The driver, who succumbed to their injuries, was the only occupant in the truck, Tidwell said. No other injuries were reported.

The deceased has not yet been identified by the Dillon County Coroner’s Office.
