A bridge that connects U.S. Highway 21 to U.S. Highway 321 will close for more than two weeks beginning Jan. 5, to allow the S.C. Department of Transportation to make repairs.

The Lorick Road bridge over Crane Creek North Branch, south of Blythewood, will close and traffic will be re-routed to Koon Store Road to make way for the repairs. The bridge is expected to be re-opened by Jan. 22, but the schedule could be affected by winter weather, according to SCDOT.

Lorick Road will remain open to local traffic, but it will not be open to through traffic.

About 1,400 vehicles on average travel down Lorick Road each day, according to SCDOT data. But the road connects the busier Highway 321 and Highway 21, which are both north-to-south traffic channels for the state.

SCDOT will close the Lorick Road bridge over the north branch of Crane Creek beginning Jan. 5, with the expectation that it will re-open Jan. 22, though that schedule could change. Traffic will be re-routed to Koon Store Road.
