Traffic detour on Columbia road after bridge closed for repairs

SC DOT

Bridge repairs will force Columbia traffic to take a circuitous detour for two weeks.

The S.C. Department of Transportation announced Monday that a bridge over Smith Branch creek on Colonial Drive will close on Monday, Jan. 26 so that crews can make repairs.

The closure will last until Friday, Feb. 6, and affect a residential area north of Highway 277 near the intersection with Farrow Road.

DOT suggests drivers take a detour around the closure on Lorick Avenue to Water Street to Manse Street back onto Colonial Drive.

The affected area of Colonial Drive will only be open to local traffic while work on the bridge continues.
