One person died in a weekend vehicle collision in northern Kershaw County.

S.C. Highway Patrol reports that two cars collided at 1:55 p.m. Saturday in the intersection of McBee Highway and Mount Pisgah Road.

A 2025 Chevrolet pickup carrying two people was traveling southbound on McBee Highway when it collided with a 2013 GMC Terrain crossing the intersection with Mount Pisgah, said Highway Patrol Master Trooper Hannah Davidson.

Three people were inside the Terrain when it was struck, Davidson said. The person sitting in the front passenger seat of the Terrain suffered fatal injuries from the crash, she said.

No other injuries were reported from the crash. Media reports Monday identified the man killed in the crash as Josue Garcia Canales, 25. The incident is under investigation by Highway Patrol.
