Bridge in Lexington County will be closed for repairs. Traffic will be impacted

SC DOT

Drivers in Lexington County will face a lengthy detour for two weeks as the S.C. Department of Transportation does repair work on a local bridge.

The bridge over Congaree Creek on Pine Street near South Congaree will close on Jan. 26 and is not expected to reopen until Feb. 6, SC DOT announced Monday.

While the bridge is closed, the state agency is recommending drivers head up Edmund Highway to Old Dunbar Road and then west to East Steele Street before reconnecting with Pine Street. That’s a detour of more than two miles while the bridge is out.

The affected area of Pine Street will only be open to local traffic while the bridge is out, SC DOT said.
