Head-on collision leaves one dead in Greenville County, SC Highway Patrol says

One person is dead following a head-on collision in Greenville County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred on U.S. 276 near Church of God Circle on Saturday around 7 a.m., according to Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway. The collision involved two vehicles, a 2020 Chevrolet pickup truck and 2019 Nissan van.

As the Chevrolet was travelling east on U.S. 276, the operator of the Nissan was travelling west before crossing over the center line, striking the pickup truck head on, Ridgeway said.

The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, while the driver of the Chevrolet was injured and transported to an area hospital, according to Ridgeway.

No other injuries were reported.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.

The collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Ridgeway said.
