Major road near Lake Murray will be down to one lane for a week due to road work

SC DOT

A major Midlands roadway is being cut from three lanes to one for the rest of the week.

Lake Murray Boulevard is being impacted while crews work to repair a pipe running nearby. Work began Monday and is planned to continue until March 23, the S.C. Department of Transportation said in a media release.

Work will be taking place near Lincreek Drive west of Irmo, and it won’t be possible for traffic to turn left onto the road from Lake Murray Boulevard during the work. Lincreek hosts a Lexington County magistrate’s office, a sheriff’s department substation and an Irmo Fire District station not far from the affected intersection.

Instead, drivers will need to take a detour using North Lake Drive and Weed Drive to connect back to Lake Murray Boulevard. There is an entrance to Lincreek Drive on North Lake a little more than a mile away from the Lake Murray Boulevard entrance.
