1 person dead following crash early Saturday, SC Highway Patrol says

One person was killed in a crash Saturday morning in Chesterfield County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday, when the driver of a 2006 Honda sedan, the sole occupant in the vehicle, was traveling south on SC-742, Master Trooper Joseph Rowell of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

The vehicle veered off the right side of the road before striking several trees and overturning, according to a news release.

The driver was pronounced dead on the scene, Rowell said.

The deceased has not yet been identified by the Chesterfield County Coroner’s Office.
