Portions of a busy road in Lexington County are closed for emergency inspections, the South Carolina Department of Transportation announced Friday.

SCDOT is temporarily closing the inside lanes of Interstate 20 in both directions at Mineral Springs bridge.

One eastbound lane is closed this afternoon for an emergency inspection, according to a news release. At 6 p.m. crews will also close one westbound lane.

Officials said crews will inspect, repair and clean up the road before reopening it.

SCDOT is asking drivers in the area to slow down and pay attention to signs and crews working.
