The life of one person was claimed Friday following a crash involving three vehicles in Colleton County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 8:08 a.m. and involved three vehicles, including a 2013 Chevrolet sedan, 2017 Nissan SUV and a 2015 Toyota sedan, according to Cpl. Nick Pye of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

While the Chevrolet and Nissan were stopped and facing south at a traffic light at the intersection of Jefferies Highway and Academy Road, the driver of the Toyota, also heading south, collided with the Chevy before striking the Nissan.

The operator of the Toyota died as a result of the collision, Pye said.

The deceased has not yet been identified by the Colleton County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
