Wreck between cyclist and motorist leaves one dead in Beaufort Co., troopers say
One person is dead following a crash between a cyclist and motorist in Beaufort County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred on Marshland Road Hilton Head Island around 9:50 p.m., according to Master Trooper M.R. Ridgeway of the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Two vehicles were involved, including an electric bicycle and 2019 Dodge Charger.
Both vehicles were traveling north on Marshland Road when the driver of the Dodge struck the cyclist, according to Ridgeway. The manner of the collision was not reported.
The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash while the operator of the Dodge was not injured, Ridgeway said.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released by the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
