Parts of the Midlands could flood on Wednesday, with more rain coming
A flash flood warning has been issued for the city of Columbia, West Columbia and Forest Acres until 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for parts of Aiken, Calhoun, Kershaw, Lexington, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland, Saluda and Sumter counties on Wednesday.
Early Wednesday morning, the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office warned of a flooded area on Interstate 26 near mile marker 87.
The Midlands flood advisory is in effect until 11:15 a.m., with possible effects including “urban and small stream flooding” and “minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas,” according to the National Weather Service.
