A strong cold front is predicted to usher severe weather in Columbia and the surrounding Midlands beginning Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

The front is expected to bring strong to severe thunderstorms, flash flooding, and gusty winds between 3 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday, according to a National Weather Service briefing.

Impacts from the storm may include downed trees and power lines from gusty winds and flash flooding from moderate to heavy rainfall.

Breezy conditions are expected to begin Saturday evening until Sunday afternoon, the briefing said.
