Midlands face chances of rain, snow mixture, Sunday, weather service says
A moderate amount of rain mixed with snow is expected to fall across the Midlands Sunday, according to the Columbia National Weather Service.
The weather is forecasted to roll in beginning Sunday morning and could potentially last into the early afternoon, according to a Saturday morning weather briefing by the weather service.
The heaviest amount of snow is expected to accumulate in the Central Savanah River Area, at around a half of inch, according to the briefing.
In other areas across the Midlands, moderate snow is expected to be impactful for a few hours, the briefing said.
The service said it’s highly confident that precipitation will not include sleet or freezing rain, but only rain and snow.
Temperatures are expected to rapidly decline into the 20s Sunday night and into Monday morning, bringing a risk for slick road conditions Monday, according to the briefing.
