Tropical depression Gert strengthened to a tropical storm at night

On Monday at 6 am, the National Hurricane Center issued an advisory stating that the tropical depression that has been named Gert has developed into a tropical storm with winds of 40 miles per hour. Gert originated as a tropical depression, but has since gained strength
Tropical Storm Gert is 485 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands, with maximum sustained wind of 40 mph. It’s moving 9 mph to the west-northwest.
"Gert is expected to become a remnant low later today and dissipate on Tuesday." forecasters wrote.
