Franklin is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane

On Sunday at 5 am, the National Hurricane Center issued an advisory stating that Category 1 Hurricane Franklin is 270 miles northeast of Grand Turk Island and 575 miles south-southwest of Bermuda, with maximum sustained wind of 90 mph. It’s moving 8 mph to the northwest. Franklin is expected to strengthen into a hurricane.
YESTERDAY (Saturday):
Yesterday, the tropical storm Franklin developed into a Category 1 hurricane with winds of 75 miles per hour.
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND:
SURF: Swells generated by Franklin are expected to begin affecting Bermuda by tonight. These swells are also likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions beginning late today through the beginning of this week along portions of the east coast of the United States.
