If Rep. Nancy Mace wants to keep women safe in bathrooms and beyond, she’d do this | Opinion

U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace, R-Isle of Palms, is right! We must not let our women be sacrificed to woke culture! We must protect them or lose society as we know it — and bathrooms as we know them!

To that end, I make a proposal to ensure Mace’s fight doesn’t become yet another unfunded mandate. Not only should every restroom available to the public correspond with the sex the person was assigned at birth, but also there should be an armed genital inspector stationed at each. It’s the only way we can guarantee “men in dresses” won’t harm our “real women.” I’m surprised Mace hasn’t done so already!

Mace doesn’t want transgender people taking over or even undermining the definition of “woman.” It’s the fight of our lives! Everyone must take up this exceedingly important cause!

I’m kidding. Unfortunately, Mace isn’t.

That’s why she recently flew all the way to Delaware, boldly stood next to a “women” sign at the entrance of a restroom, and bravely gestured toward it like a host on “The Price is Right” pointing to “a brand new car!” that a lucky game show participant might win.

“Just made it to Delaware where real women have their own bathroom,” Mace tweeted.

Delaware is where the first openly transgender member of Congress lives.

I don’t know how Mace does it, how she’s able to show such bravery standing in front of a room that probably was empty except for a few toilet stalls, maybe a double sink and hand dryer, and most likely was cleaner than its men’s only counterpart. As a staunch defender of women, her support for Donald Trump, a man who has been accused of sexual misconduct multiple times, and Matt Gaetz, a man fellow lawmakers accused of statutory rape and paying for sex, well, that’s beside the point. No one’s perfect.

Admittedly, I’ve been slow to recognize Mace’s brilliance. I now understand why she was so easily re-elected to the First Congressional District of South Carolina. It has little to do with a gerrymander that makes it difficult for any Democrat to win a district that was once more purple than red. It’s her priorities. Also, since she knows that we cannot and must not tolerate trans people being able to live without government interference, we should ignore that they are more likely to be harmed than harm others.

I see it now. That’s why I ask Mace to do what she has yet to do — propose spending government money to back her talk. She’s already used ugly language to describe trans people. She’s proposed laws and new regulations to keep that threat somewhat at bay, restricting the use of congressional bathrooms. She’s even used numerous TV hits to advance such an important cause.

As far as I know, though, she has yet to promise the most obvious solution — armed genital inspectors.

It won’t cost that much money. The U.S. has one of the lowest rates of public restrooms in the world. And trans people make up only roughly 0.6% of the U.S. population. That’s not much! By some estimates, there are only about 365 public restrooms in New York, 40 in Charlotte and maybe a couple dozen in Myrtle Beach.

Surely taxpayers would be happy forking over a little money for armed genital inspectors to keep women safe. Actually, why stop there? If Mace really wanted to keep women safe, she’d want armed genital inspectors in restaurants and convenience stores, too.

That would cost a bit more, given that Myrtle Beach alone has roughly 2,000 restaurants. But, hey, Mace has found the most important issue of our time! That’s why she’s spending so much energy on it, tweeting about it so often, talking about it on TV, and flying out of state so the good people of America won’t fall asleep — or stay woke, if you will — before it is solved.

She must introduce legislation to back up her words! No amount of taxpayer money is too much for the protection of our women and girls!

Or, you know, she could focus on improving the lives of the people who elected her. But that would take a level of maturity Mace has yet to prove she possesses.
