Letters: Help citizens, not immigrants
I read with dismay the story about Manndy McKenney and her four teenage children who lost their home to the floods and are now homeless (“Six weeks later, some still searching for housing,” Nov. 20). They have been offered a pittance of support from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The story tells us that Ms. McKenney is a veteran of the Army and Marine Corps.
How is it that our society can find more than adequate amounts of money to support illegal Mexican immigrants or Syrian immigrants but cannot find sufficient money to help a U.S. citizen and veteran? I believe that it is time for us to reevaluate our priorities and take care of Americans first.
Shame on us for allowing this to happen.
