Sunday letters: Society is headed in wrong direction

Society is in trouble. People are starting to do what they want just because. To get to the bottom of why society is so weak, we must go back to the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve turned from being God-centered to self-centered and arrogant. This set the pattern for sin today.

There were three elements that have provided the foundation for this country — the church, the school and the family. These elements produced educated, well-taught spiritually and morally grounded children.

The first crack in the foundation is the school. Prayer was removed from the schools, resulting in a lack of commonality among the students. The first step in returning to biblical principles must be to bring back prayer into the school. Our founding fathers, though they were not all Christians, accepted the basic principles of the Bible. The Constitution is based upon the principles of the Bible.

There are basically two worldviews today: a self-centered view that puts man at the center of everything and a spiritual one, based on biblical principles that produce a willful God-centeredness. Romans 8:6 says, “For to be selfishly minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
