Letters: Make it easier to report student misbehavior
If Columbia and USC are serious about improving the quality of life in the neighborhoods surrounding USC, they must make it easy for residents to report possible violations (“Naked USC students latest tipping point for neighborhood residents,” Sept. 8).
Many are unaware that they can report off-campus misbehavior to USC, and others have no idea how to do that. Specifically, the city and USC should explain what constitutes a violation and the process for reporting violations and provide a website, email and/or telephone numbers for filing reports. I believe residents are eager to help, but the process needs to be well-promoted and easy to use.
Our neighborhood residents, whether homeowners or renters, deserve better. They should not be forced to endure inebriated students knocking on their doors, yards trashed, noise and parking problems, vandalism or, worse, a nude co-ed on a porch.
