Letters: What Anita Hill tells us about Donald Trump
x Proclaiming a higher standard for women’s treatment in the workplace, the 25th annual I Believe Anita Hill Party presented a striking contrast to the 2016 presidential campaign (“Hill’s words, Clinton’s nomination inspire group’s annual gathering,” Sept. 16).
Those attending represented many whom Donald Trump has duped or vilified: women, students, people of color, the disabled and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. In his amoral universe, Trump’s abuse is unlimited, whether disparaging groups of citizens or Hillary Clinton, the most qualified presidential candidate.
Anita Hill’s experience of workplace abuse is as relevant today as in 1991. When threatened, entitled bullies may discredit or attack women, using false accusations and retaliation. We know a bully cannot be trusted.
Trump is a bully. He lies about Hillary Clinton and threatens her life. Drawing from the abuser’s handbook, he has blamed her for the despicable things he himself has done. The birther controversy disclosed his crass manipulation, and reports of his deceitful business practices accumulate. By standing for justice, the Anita Hill Party exposes this abusive fraud.
