Letters: Should some pay more taxes than due?

As citizens we all have a duty to pay the income taxes due. Not less, and not more.

Hillary Clinton’s pounding on the carry-forward effects on Donald Trump’s tax returns raises the question: Is it her position that certain people should pay more than the amount due? If so, the prospects are frightening.

Who would select those who have a duty to pay more? Would it be the Lois Lerner branch of a weaponized IRS? Or perhaps the now-compromised Justice Department?

What would be the criteria? A data sweep by the NSA of Google searches for all things conservative? An analysis of Amazon purchases that indicate “an enemy” of her administration?

A “fair share” is a matter of opinion and can’t be computed. So how much more should they pay? A flat dollar amount or a percentage of some line on the return?

Or perhaps this is, sadly, Mrs. Clinton’s pandering to the deadly sin of envy.
