In Sunday’s presidential debate, both candidates repeatedly talked past their allotted two minutes despite warnings.

The off-screen countdown clock is obviously not getting their attention. What we need is a rule that allows audio technicians to cut off their microphones at the two-minute mark. With their mics cut, perhaps the candidates would realize that no one can hear them and the debate could proceed.
