What was the Richland County sheriff’s deputy supposed to do when the Spring Valley student refused to obey him? Leave her there to take over the class?

If you get stopped by an officer and he asks you to exit the vehicle and you don’t comply, he will pull you out.

Firing the officer was too harsh of a punishment, leaving a blemish on his record.

I think the sheriff rushed his decision. Maybe he was afraid of what might happen, thereby leaving a blemish on his record.
