Letters: Next president will continue decline

The past eight years have seen turmoil in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and the Far East. Russia has reneged on the nuclear agreement. Add a nuclear treaty with Iran and $20 trillion and growing debt. This is thanks to an incompetent and pompous administration and an impotent Republican Congress that has wasted precious time voting to repeal the Affordable Care Act to appease the tea party, knowing it could not override a veto.

Now we have a choice between two candidates who cannot be trusted. They are both pompous and self-serving. Donald Trump is a loudmouth who thinks no one is better then him. Hillary Clinton lied to the families of those killed in Benghazi (place yourself in their shoes) and has shamelessly used the Clinton Foundation to enrich herself. She has raked in money with private speeches that contradict her public positions. She has compromised the country’s security but received a slap on the wrist.

Throughout history no great power has survived more than 200 to 250 years. Regardless of which one gets elected, the next president will speed us to the end of what has been a great country.
