Letters: We must stand together to stand strong

tglantz@thestate.com

Greed, selfishness and immorality seem to be the norm, be it on our reality television shows, our popular music or even in our political campaigns. If we don’t change soon, we will find our nation declining.

We need to know that love is not a preacher on television trying to get you to send in as much money as possible. We need to know that God does not promote hate and bigotry. We need to learn to live together regardless of our differences, and not hate each other because of what makes us different.

We need to stop judging each other because of skin color, gender or lifestyle. A diverse society will make a better, peaceful society. But a society that practices hate and bitterness is a nation divided, and as President Abraham Lincoln (and St. Mark) said, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.”

Let’s stand together, so we can survive as a strong nation.
