Letters: We can’t see you when your headlights are off
People, people, people: Please use your car headlights at dusk — not so you can see but so that we can see you.
The S.C. DMV handbook explains the law: “You must have your headlights turned on at night and from a half hour after sunset to a half hour before sunrise, and at any other time when you have to use your windshield wipers.”
I’ve lost count of the number of cars I see at dusk without their lights on, some not so easily. One evening, they included a Lexington County Sheriff’s car, an Irmo Police car and a Richland County Sheriff’s car.
