Letters: Trump more than qualified to be president

President-elect Donald Trump

Barack Obama’s tenure in the Illinois Legislature was from 1997 to 2004, when he was elected to the U.S. Senate. He was barely into his first term when he announced he would run for president. He had worked as a community organizer and a part-time law professor. His foreign policy/international affairs experience was that he had lived in Indonesia as a young man when his mother was married to an Indonesian.

By comparison, President-elect Donald Trump has negotiated business deals around the world for the past 40 years, building a massive business empire. He has had some reverses, it is true, but he also has employed thousands of people. Very few presidential candidates have had the breadth of executive experience he brings to the role.

He has the experience to select the talented people needed to run an effective and efficient government for the benefit of all citizens.
