Letters: Let’s see what Republicans deliver

President-elect Donald Trump

Unemployment is 4.9 percent, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is over 18,000, and the economy is on a slow, steady upswing. The Republicans have total control over government, with no urgent crises. The Democrats can't obstruct Donald Trump like the Republicans obstructed Barack Obama.

We should expect a reduction in the deficit, lower unemployment, higher stock markets, more jobs, lower taxes, stronger military, a replacement for Obamacare that is better and cheaper, a giant wall along the border, an end to the wars in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, and all illegal immigrants deported.

Sure hope all of that happens instead of everything crashing like it did last time the Republicans were in control, and left Obama with 10 percent unemployment and an 8,000 Dow.

I want all the promises to come true, but I can remember recent history, and what I remember makes me skeptical.
