Letters: Pray for our leaders, like them or not

I had no hope that Donald Trump would be elected, so I had a prayer ready for Hillary Clinton had she won. Instead of protesting and displaying truly deplorable behavior, I would like to suggest that those who did not vote for Donald Trump use that prayer to pray for our newly elected officials and especially for our president-elect:

Grant him wisdom; that he will lead our nation wisely and well.

Grant him understanding; that he will recognize the needs of our country.

Grant him knowledge; that he will uphold our Constitution with conviction.

Grant him counsel; that he will listen with an open heart and mind.

Grant him piety; that he will be an individual of prayer.

Grant him fortitude; that he will deal well with difficulties.

Grant him fear of the Lord; that he will rejoice in his presence.

I pray that these seven gifts of the Holy Spirit dwell in the hearts of our leaders.
