Letters: Mayor Benjamin provided motorist a lifeline
In a tense political time in America, it is refreshing to know Columbia’s politicians remain kind and compassionate.
After Justice 360’s event last week, my stubborn key got stuck, and I was locked out of my car. I stood in the dark parking lot weighing out my options.
Soon, a car pulled up, and to my surprise it was Mayor Steve Benjamin and his security detail, who took time from their busy day to help me and call for assistance. They waited with me for nearly two hours until the problem was solved and I got home safely.
This act of kindness is a wonderful reminder that Columbia is a compassionate community.
I am extremely grateful that Columbia has a mayor who remains focused on the city and on the needs of the people — even those with car trouble.
It is great to know there are still kind politicians who care about citizens.
