Letters: Republicans are happy to reap

AP

Mike Evans closed his letter about Republicans “up in arms” over these post-election protests with this Bible verse: “As you sow, so shall you reap” (“Protesters following Republicans’ example,” Nov. 18).

With 33 Republican governors in 2017, 25 of them with Republican-controlled legislatures versus only six such trifectas for Democrats, a Republican president and majority Republican Senate and House, and the very real likelihood of a majority conservative Supreme Court in the near future, I wholeheartedly agree that Republicans have reaped a hearty bounty indeed.

Conversely, a few thousand misinformed anarchists protesting the constitutional election of our next president, in mostly blue cities, in mostly blue states, in a nation of more than 300 million citizens, is hardly enough to get Republicans “up in arms.” Certainly not after watching countless communities across our nation pillaged and burned and a disturbing number of police men and women assassinated during this administration’s time in office.
